A Panel Discussion on Current Threats and Challenges to Religious Liberty in America

By Pastor Charles Stolfus in Denton Bible Church about 1 year ago | 3627 views Link:

We are pleased to be hosting on October 1 a panel discussion focusing on continuing threats to religious liberty in America. Almost one year ago we hosted a similar panel discussion highlighting the threats to religious liberty in America and the urgent need for God’s people to come together in prayer.

There have been some notable successes in the defense of religious liberty, but efforts by some to undermine religious liberty rights continue  and are even increasing. In fact, one source documents at least 1400 attacks on religious liberty in 2016 alone. That represents a 15% increase over the previous year and a 133% increase in the past 5 years.

Some of you will recall last year’s panel of experts that addressed this same issue. This year’s panel discussion  is a reprise of that event.

We are privileged to have all of last year’s speakers back with us again.  Our speakers include:

  • Ken Paxton, Attorney General for the State of Texas
  • Scott Sanford, Texas State Representative and co-founder and co-director of the Texas State Legislative Prayer Caucus
  • Matt Krause, Texas State Representative and co-founder and co-director of the Texas State Legislative Prayer Caucus
  • Hiram Sasser, lead attorney for First Liberty Institute, a religious liberty defense organization
  • Charles Stolfus, Moderator for the Panel Discussion

We invite you to join us for this free event on Sunday evening, October 1, 2017 beginning at 6:00 PM in the main sanctuary of Denton Bible Church. This event will be in place of the regular evening service.

All of these men serve on the front lines of the defense of religious liberty, finding their greatest motivation in this work from their faith in Jesus Christ. They bring a high level of knowledge and experience in religious liberty issues from years of faithful service both in the public and the private sector.

As a capstone to the evening our Senior Pastor Tom Nelson will challenge us on how we can pray most effectively for our elected representatives and indeed all those who labor in the many other areas of public service in defense of religious liberties.

Please invite your friends, neighbors, and family to join you for this important event. I hope to see you there.
